Ariel Winter on Her Breast Reduction, “I Have Never Felt More Happy”

It has been over a year since Hollywood starlet Ariel Winters opened up about her decision to undergo breast reduction. Yet, even a year later, her choice continues to be widely talked about. While many were surprised at the then 17 year-olds decision, Ariel was and continues to be confident in her decision. “I got it for myself,” she says. Of her now smaller bosom, she gloats, “I can’t even really put it into words about how amazing it feels to really feel right.”

Making Headlines

In the past year, Ariel has had to repeatedly defend her decision. This past month, SELF Magazine was the latest to report on Ariel’s breast reduction. She told the magazine, “People may find it hard to believe, but when I got my breast reduction surgery last year, it wasn’t because I didn’t like how I looked.”

No, the reason she chose breast reduction surgery was rooted in physical and emotional discomfort. “I was uncomfortable and unhappy. I chose surgery because of how I felt, not because of what anyone else thought.” She has told other outlets that her decision was in large part because she “was in excruciating pain.” “I couldn’t sit up straight, it was always super uncomfortable for me to sleep, it was uncomfortable to sit, [and] it was uncomfortable to walk,” she says.

Staying True to Form

Going from a 32F to a 34D, many wondered how Miss Winters decided on her new shape. Ariel explained her decision, “they were way too big, originally, but I didn’t want to be disproportionate.” As for the size of her breasts, Ariel celebrates her body, “I had the option to go smaller, but I’m a curvy girl, and I didn’t want to change that. I love being a curvy girl.”

“It was the best change I ever made in my life!”

And, just in case you were wondering if she is happy—Ariel had this to say: “the feeling of not having so much there was such a relief! Once the surgery was completed, I can’t even explain the feeling”. She recalls, “I was buying clothes and crying as I put them on, I was so happy. You just feel so relieved and excited. You feel like a new person. You feel like this is how I was supposed to be.”
